Students enrolled in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology PhD program may earn a non-terminal Master鈥檚 Along the Way (MAW) in Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology as part of their progression toward the doctoral degree. The MAW is awarded upon completion of key early program requirements and does not require additional coursework beyond the standard PhD curriculum.

To be eligible for the MAW, students must complete all required core coursework (29 credit hours) with a minimum grade of B- in each course, along with at least one credit hour of directed research, totaling a minimum of 30 credit hours.

In addition, students must fulfill the program鈥檚 independent learning requirement for the MAW by successfully completing the First Year Project, which includes both a written manuscript and an oral presentation. Elective coursework is not required for completion of the MAW.
