麻豆原创 Conservatory Theatre鈥檚 latest offering cruises onto the Black Box stage this evening for the opening of 鈥淒ames At Sea.鈥

With book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller and music by Jim Wise, 鈥淒ames At Sea鈥 is a musical comedy inspired by 1930s Hollywood director and choreographer Busby Berkeley.聽 鈥淒ames At Sea鈥 pays homage to 鈥42nd Street,鈥 complete with the theme of a young girl going to Broadway and making it big — plus an abundance of musical numbers, dancing and tapping.

The show opens Thursday, Nov. 18, and will run through Sunday, Dec. 5., on 麻豆原创鈥檚 main campus. All performances are scheduled in 麻豆原创鈥檚 smaller Black Box Theatre.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an intimate setting for an intimate musical,鈥 says Earl Weaver, the show鈥檚 director and 麻豆原创鈥檚 coordinator of Musical Theatre.

Weaver adds that this 鈥渇amily-friendly, lighthearted romp鈥 will not only be fun and entertaining, but it also will be eligible to participate in the well-revered American College Theatre Festival, or ACTF.

鈥淲e鈥檝e never been able to have a full musical submitted for ACTF, so 鈥楧ames At Sea鈥 is the perfect opportunity to do so,鈥 he said.

Performances of聽 鈥淒ames At Sea鈥 will be Thursdays through Sundays from Nov. 18 until Dec. 5.

All shows begin at 8 p.m., except for the Sunday matinee, which will start at 2 p.m.
