Beta Alpha Psi Reaches National Stage

A team of students in �鶹ԭ��’s Epsilon Gamma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi impressed the judges at the national organization’s recent Southeast Regional Conference, held this year in Nashville, Tennessee. Congratulations to the following students:

The group obtained first place for the second year in a row and will compete in the national competition on August 8-10 in Anaheim, California.

Future and Current Accountants Race for the Cure

The Central Florida Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (CFIIA) sponsored the second annual Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) team to participate in the , which was recently held on campus. BAP Vice President Jade Thompson and CFIIA Academic Relations Committee Chair Pamela Roush, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting, organized a runners/walkers team of 22 accounting students and four internal audit professionals to join thousands of other participants supporting breast cancer research. The event is held annually to raise awareness of the impact of breast cancer on thousands of central Floridians and to promote the Komen Foundation’s research efforts to improve survival and cure rates of this disease. The event allowed interaction between accounting students and accounting professionals while promoting a sense of charitable giving and community involvement. Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals.

The �鶹ԭ�� Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the honors organization for financial information professionals, has been recognized internationally as a superior chapter. Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment. Under the leadership of Donna Schmitt, associate professor and research fellow in the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting, the chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership. Student Group Places Third in National Competition

Four students from Beta Alpha Psi placed third in a national competition during the organization’s annual meeting in Baltimore, MD. The students, Jade Thompson, Kaitlin Border, Leif Bang and Aaron Blades won for their presentation on Best Practices in Social Networking. A total of nine officers and two directors from the organization represented �鶹ԭ��. Beta Alpha Psi is the international honors business organization for accounting, finance and information systems.

A team of students in �鶹ԭ��’s Epsilon Gamma chapter of Beta Alpha Psi made history at the organization’s recent Southeast Regional Conference, held in Raleigh, North Carolina. For the first time, the chapter had two teams place in the “Best Practices” presentation, sponsored by Deloitte. Congratulations to the following students:

The social networking group will advance to nationals in Baltimore, Maryland in August 2012, and will compete against other first-place teams from seven other regions in an effort to win the national title. This will be the first time a �鶹ԭ�� team is competing at that level.
