The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities hosted its 5th聽year of the 麻豆原创 Creed Art Contest. The theme for this year鈥檚 contest was: 麻豆原创 Creed- Make it Shine.

Thirteen talented students submitted art that was judged by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities staff. A second place winner was selected through fan voting on the 麻豆原创 Cares Facebook page.

OSRR聽thanks the 麻豆原创 Parent and Family Fund for direct support with the first and second prize-an iPad Pro and iPad, respectively.

Students are encouraged to submit original 2-D or 3-D artworks that represent the 麻豆原创 Creed values: Integrity, Scholarship, Community, Creativity or Excellence.

This year’s theme:聽 麻豆原创 Creed: Make it Shine!

Eligibility: Students currently enrolled at 麻豆原创 may submit artwork. One entry per artist. No group artwork will be accepted. Art should be created so it may be displayed on a wall. Digital submissions will not be accepted. Entries will be judged on creativity and how the artwork represents the 麻豆原创 Creed.

All entries are due to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities聽by 5 p.m. on October 20, 2017. Submit art to Ferrell Commons, 227.

Submissions must include: Student name, year, Knights e-mail address, phone number, medium, title for the piece, and an artist statement, which includes a description of how the art connects with this year鈥檚 theme. Artwork missing these components will not be judged.

The Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services invites you to participate in It’s On Us Week of Action on October 24-27.

It鈥檚 On Us is a national awareness-raising campaign that encourages everyone to play an active part in preventing interpersonal violence [#ITSONUS], which includes sexual assault, relationship abuse, stalking and sexual harassment.

We will have giveaways such as T-shirts, rally towels, tumblers and more. There will also be a drawing for an It鈥檚 On Us prize pack, which includes gift cards and all the giveaways from the week.

Throughout the week, 麻豆原创 students, faculty and staff will be able to sign the pledge to prevent interpersonal violence at 麻豆原创, learn more about resources for those impacted by this behavior, and learn how to prevent interpersonal violence through being an active bystander.

The schedule is as follows:

  • October 24: Action Week Kick-Off: Sign the pledge, free gear.
    11 a.m.-2 p.m., Student Union Atrium
  • October 25: Resource Fair: Discover resources, free tumbler
    9 a.m.-Noon, SU Patio
  • October 26: Green Dot Overview Speeches: Learn how to prevent interpersonal violence
    11 a.m.-3 p.m. (every hour on the hour), SU 223
  • October 27: Social Media Day: Tell your friends 鈥 All-Day on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – @麻豆原创UKNIGHTED

    National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week /news/national-collegiate-alcohol-awareness-week/ Tue, 18 Oct 2016 15:30:22 +0000 /news/?p=74489 麻豆原创 is joining universities across the nation and recognizing National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week [NCAAW] by sponsoring programs and educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness of alcohol issues on campus.

    Scheduled events focus on encouraging alcohol safety and personal. NCAAW is held during the 3rd week of October each year, decisively a time when the academic calendar is marked by social activities like football, homecoming and other holidays which typically concern public health issues such as excessive drinking.

    麻豆原创 is focusing on聽some of the risks associated with excessive drinking and the affect they could have on a student鈥檚 life. The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities Title IX and Orange County Sex Crimes Squad have partnered to provide a discussion on Drinking and Legal Consent. Highlighted events as follows:

  • 18 @ 3-4 p.m., SU Cape Florida: Drinking and Legal Consent
  • 19 @1-3 p.m., Health Center (concrete gardens): Alcohol Screening Day
  • 20 @ 4-5:30 p.m., SU 221: Keri Anne DeMott Matters (listen to her father鈥檚 powerful testimony)
  • 21 10 p.m.-1 a.m., Neptune Multipurpose Room: thePoint After Dark program
  • The Office of Student Involvement will also be hosting their monthly Late Knights event during NCAAW as yet another healthy entertainment alternative for the 麻豆原创 Student Community. For flyer, click here.

    Jennifer Wright Recipient of Campus Integrity Award /news/jennifer-wright-recipient-of-campus-integrity-award/ Fri, 11 Mar 2016 12:37:01 +0000 /news/?p=71153 Jennifer Wright, director for the Office of Integrity and Ethical Development 鈹 a unit of the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, was the proud recipient of the 鈥淐ampus Integrity Award鈥 at the International Center for Academic Integrity Conference held in New Mexico mid-February. This award recognizes a campuswide (or larger) effort to promote and/or maintain the values of academic integrity.

    The International Center for Academic Integrity was founded to combat cheating, plagiarism, and academic dishonesty in higher education. Its mission has since expanded to include the cultivation of cultures of integrity in academic communities throughout the world.

    Nominations can be made for individuals or teams who have made extraordinary contributions to the field by upholding scholarly standards and/or improving the quality of education on an institutional or larger scale.聽Congratulations Jennifer for continuing to put 麻豆原创 on the map in the area of Academic Integrity.

    Artworks Reflect the 麻豆原创 Creed, Now on Display /news/artwork-reflects-ucf-creed/ Tue, 20 Jan 2015 19:11:32 +0000 /news/?p=63950 The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities along with the 麻豆原创 Parent and Family Fund hosted the 5th Creed Art Contest in November 2014. All students were encouraged to submit original works of art that represented the 麻豆原创 Creed values: Integrity, Scholarship, Community, Creativity and Excellence.

    The winner, Kimberly Montano-Tavera who painted 鈥淜night Helmet鈥 won Nook from Barnes and Noble and runner-up Cara Salinas who painted 鈥淒reams of Lake Claire鈥 received a 麻豆原创 Creed giveaway basket. Students who submitted their artwork included their personal artistic reflections.

    One student artist, Nadya Mishutina submitted a work of art of the Recreation and Wellness Center聽building where she has worked the past two years and refers to her 鈥渟econd home.鈥 Her artwork is hung in the RWC for other students to view and enjoy. Mishutina wrote this about her art, 鈥淚 am a 麻豆原创 Knight, never stop and never give up. Even if everybody sees the limit or obstacles, there is always a way to move up.鈥

    All Creed Art submissions are currently on display throughout the RWC and the Student Union second floor. OSRR is a department in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.

    The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and the Parent and Family Fund announced the start of the 2014 Creed Art Contest. Students can submit original 2-D or 3-D pieces of artwork that represent the 麻豆原创 Creed Values of Integrity, Scholarship, Community, Creativity or Excellence. This year鈥檚 theme: How does the 麻豆原创 Creed help you build your armor?

    Creed Art may be submitted by any currently enrolled student to the OSRR by 5:00pm on November 14, 2014 in Ferrell Commons 227.

    Grand-prize winners will be notified the week of November 17 and receive a Barnes and Noble Nook Color鈩 and have their art displayed around campus. Select runners up will also have their art displayed around campus.

    Please note that submissions must include: student name, Year, Knights email address, phone number, and an artist statement, which includes a description of which 麻豆原创 Creed value is represented and what your artwork represents. Submissions missing these components will not be judged.

    The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in conjunction with the 麻豆原创 Parent and Family Fund hosted the Spring 2014 Creed Art Contest. Students from across campus were encouraged to submit original works of art that represented the 麻豆原创 Creed values. Students submitted their original artwork and 1 grand-prize winner was selected by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. Students who submitted their artwork included their personal artistic reflections. This semester鈥檚 winner was Amaris Rosario.

    Rosario is a graduate student in Criminal Justice, graduating this spring. She wrote this about her artwork, 鈥淭his piece is entitled 11AD ASTRA PER ASPERA, which signifies 鈥榯o the stars through difficulties.鈥 Lady Justice represents my studies in criminal justice at 麻豆原创 and the 麻豆原创 emblem is the light of education. In my perspective, education is opportunity to not only grow as individuals, but to contribute to our communities. Being a Knight is to persevere no matter what challenge we may face. Integrity is a part of our creed that represents doing the right thing regardless of who is watching. There is no better feeling than an achievement that is earned through hard work. Pegasus reaches the stars in flight. As students, our education at 麻豆原创 will allow us to not just fly but soar; excellence through true learning.鈥

    All Creed art submissions are currently on display in at the John C. Hitt Library art wall and will be part of the main floor collection through April 2014.

    The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in conjunction with the 麻豆原创 Parent and Family Fund hosted the third Creed Art Contest in November 2013. Students from across campus were encouraged to submit original works of art that represented the 麻豆原创 Creed values: Integrity, Scholarship, Community, Creativity and Excellence.

    The winners were selected by the OSRR:

  • Winner: David Paley 鈹 鈥淭he Kneeling Knightro鈥
  • Runner Up: AnnMarie Henry 鈹 鈥淭he Knightro and Student鈥
  • 聽Students who submitted their artwork included their personal artistic reflections. One student artist, Brianna Howard, wrote, 鈥淲e don鈥檛 simply observe the Creed as a value of the school, but students looking to excel observe the values of the Creed as personal values, and should practice them in everyday interactions.鈥

    聽Creed Art submissions are currently on display in Wellness and Health Promotions, Nicholson School of Communication, and the University Writing Center.

    The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in conjunction with the 麻豆原创 Parent and Family Fund hosted the Spring 2013 Creed Art Contest. Students from across campus were encouraged to submit original works of art that represented the 麻豆原创 Creed values. Twenty-two talented students submitted their original artwork with their personal artistic reflections.

    Courtney Tinnesz wrote, 鈥淩epresented in my artwork is the 麻豆原创鈥檚 creed value creativity. Creativity is the ability to transcend typical ideas, standards, and rules to create a meaningful interpretation; originality. My piece tests traditional art and challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface. Similarly, 麻豆原创 challenges its students to do more than learn principles and theories, but to expand upon their knowledge by applying them with their individual and unique talents to enrich the overall human experience.鈥

    The winners were: Cara Salinas, sophomore; Christine Gilbert, junior; and CJ Frontera, senior.

    Creed Art submissions are currently on display in Wellness and Health Promotion Services, Nicholson School of Communication, and the University Writing Center. OSRR is a department in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.
