There is no doubt that this has been an unusual and difficult year for so many at 麻豆原创 and in our community. I remain so grateful to you \u2014 our faculty and staff \u2014 for your can-do attitude, adaptability and compassion. It is clear that you care deeply for our university, and you have all stepped up tremendously to serve our students and each other during this time<\/p>\n

“The university will be closed for official business starting Monday, December 21, through Friday, January 1. Eligible employees will be paid for those days.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Every day you make a difference. And I hope you are also taking care of yourselves by taking the time you need to rest and recharge.<\/p>\n

To make sure you have this time, and to recognize you for your incredible contributions this year, I have approved eight paid days off in December. These eight paid days off are in addition to state holidays on December 25 and January 1. This will mean the university will be closed for official business starting Monday, December 21, through Friday, January 1. Eligible employees will be paid for those days.<\/p>\n

Please talk with your supervisor for more details about how these paid days off apply to you.<\/p>\n

Our Compassionate Community<\/h3>\n

Since arriving at 麻豆原创, I have said that we should strive to not only be the university \u201cof\u201d a place, but the university \u201cfor\u201d our community. Together, we have an opportunity to be that bright spot in higher education.<\/p>\n

As we enter this season of giving, those of us who are able to do so can give back to our community in many ways, including through philanthropy and volunteering \u2014 with worthy organizations who appreciate our generosity now more than ever.<\/p>\n

One such organization is the Heart of Florida United Way<\/a>. Each year, 麻豆原创\u2019s faculty, staff and students come together to support the amazing services the United Way provides our region, including neonatal care, early childhood and adult literacy education, affordable housing, emergency services, and more. During this unprecedented time, the assistance provided is critical to so many.<\/p>\n

You can also directly support members of our university community through 麻豆原创\u2019s Student Emergency Fund or Employee Relief Fund<\/a>, which offer assistance to Knights who are facing hardships. For our students, donations to these funds have the potential to remove financial barriers to their academic success.<\/p>\n

麻豆原创 is a very special place for Melinda and me \u2014 thank you for being a part of it and for all you do to make a difference at 麻豆原创 and beyond.<\/p>\n
