{"id":132683,"date":"2022-12-01T09:56:56","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T14:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=132683"},"modified":"2024-04-16T16:56:03","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T20:56:03","slug":"giving-tuesday-raises-475000-to-help-unleash-potential-and-support-student-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/giving-tuesday-raises-475000-to-help-unleash-potential-and-support-student-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Giving Tuesday 2022 Raises $475K to Help Unleash Potential, Support Student Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past 9 years, 麻豆原创 has participated in\u00a0<strong>Giving Tuesday<\/strong>, a global day of generosity that celebrates philanthropy, volunteerism and community service to highlight the powerful difference people can make when they come together to help others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Nov. 29, Knight Nation came together and raised more than $475,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>麻豆原创 is committed to making a better future for its students and society; Giving Tuesday donors help by funding a wide range of areas that support student success, social mobility and innovative research. Donor support not only unlocks potential, inspires excellence and expands access to higher education, but helps to create a better world for all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhilanthropy is what brings the 麻豆原创 community together and none of that would be possible without [donor] support,\u201d says Daniella Lopez, 麻豆原创 student body president. \u201cOn behalf of the entire student body, thank you for your continued support and your generosity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the popular areas that received support on Giving Tuesday were First Generation Scholarship Fund,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucfknights.com\/sports\/2021\/2\/11\/ucf-athletics-giving.aspx\">ChargeOn Fund<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caps.sdes.ucf.edu\/\">Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS Mental Health Fund)<\/a>,\u00a0Cheerleading\u00a0and Area of Greatest Need.<\/p>\n<p><em>FAIRWINDS\u00a0<\/em>Credit Union gave a $125,000 gift to name\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/business.ucf.edu\/centers-institutes\/the-exchange\/\">The EXCHANGE<\/a>, the hub for ideas and educational activities in the College of Business that expands learning by connecting students with thought leaders, employers, faculty members and fellow students. Other notable gifts to the College of Business included support from <strong>Mark Plaumann \u201974 \u201979<\/strong> and Marilyn Wilson for their named first-generation endowed scholarship, and <strong>Jessica \u201980<\/strong> and Kenneth Blume for endowing a scholarship for integrated business solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The impact of Giving Tuesday often goes beyond dollars raised. \u201cHaving someone willing to invest in you is often the best incentive to invest in yourself,\u201d says Theresa Kieu \u201921.\u00a0 \u201cSupport from generous donors helped me earn a 麻豆原创 degree without incurring debt, but also reminded me that there were people rooting for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Giving Tuesday is the start of the Season of Giving and there are many opportunities to support 麻豆原创.
