Maggy Tomova, 麻豆原创’s dean of the College of Sciences<\/a> and vice provost for strategic initiatives, is joining Augusta University in Georgia as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. Her last day at 麻豆原创 is June 30.<\/p>\n

Tomova came to 麻豆原创 in 2021 from the University of Iowa where she was an associate dean and a distinguished mathematics scholar. At 麻豆原创, she has played a key role in advancing student success, research and faculty excellence at 麻豆原创’s largest college and 麻豆原创\u2019s status as Florida\u2019s Premier Engineering and Technology University.<\/p>\n

Under Tomova\u2019s leadership, the College of Sciences increased its four-year graduation rate from 54% to nearly 70%, and research expenditures grew from $18 million to $33 million. As vice provost, she also contributed to university-wide efforts that raised 麻豆原创\u2019s overall four-year graduation rate to 60% \u2014 up from 54% in 2023 \u2014 and helped position the university to attain the state\u2019s prestigious preeminence designation, which is expected this summer.<\/p>\n

Joshua Colwell, associate dean and Pegasus Professor of physics, will serve as the College of Sciences\u2019 interim dean during the national search for Tomova\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n

Michael D. Johnson, 麻豆原创 provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs, praised Tomova for her dedication and innovative leadership.<\/p>\n
