Andr\u00e9s W. L\u00f3pez, a prominent lawyer from Puerto Rico, will speak Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the 麻豆原创 about \u201cLatino Leadership and the I-4 Corridor.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
L\u00f3pez will give his presentation at 3 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union. The event, organized by the College of Arts and Humanities, in partnership with the 麻豆原创 Global Perspectives Office, occurs during Hispanic Heritage Month, which pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched the United States. It is free and open to the public. \u00a0<\/p>\n
In 2011, PODER Magazine recognized L\u00f3pez as one of the \u201c100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.\u201d In 2009, he headed a commission to study the potential creation of a National Museum of the American Latino, a presidential initiative. L\u00f3pez also spearheaded the effort to secure President Obama\u2019s historic June 2011 visit to Puerto Rico, the first time in 50 years that a sitting U.S. president made an official trip to San Juan.<\/p>\n
A graduate of Harvard Law School, L\u00f3pez serves as chairman of the school\u2019s Latino Alumni Committee.
