Provides Modified Toy Cars for 16 More Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>麻豆原创&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/doctor-of-physical-therapy-dpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Doctor of Physical Therapy Program<\/a> hosted\u00a0a second\u00a0麻豆原创 Go Baby Go! workshop to retrofit motorized toy cars for young children with special needs.<\/p>\n<p>麻豆原创 physical therapy faculty members and students, administrators, and engineering students,\u00a0along with family and community members,\u00a0gathered for the\u00a0workshop Dec. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m., at\u00a0麻豆原创&#8217;s Morgridge International Reading Center.<\/p>\n<p>They modified off-the-shelf toy\u00a0cars\u00a0for 16 toddlers with limited mobility using readily available parts. Afterwards the children\u00a0learned to drive their cars and\u00a0had an opportunity to explore their surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that children with new-found mobility are empowered to be part of the action. They demonstrate increased social interaction, motor skills and cognitive development.<\/p>\n<p>GoBabyGo is a national movement led by Cole Galloway, a professor, physical therapist and associate chair at the University of Delaware. The National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation fund much of his work.<\/p>\n<p>Galloway worked with Jennifer Tucker, a 麻豆原创 physical therapy faculty member and pediatric physical therapist, to lead the latest workshop.
