{"id":81262,"date":"2018-03-15T09:12:05","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T13:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=81262"},"modified":"2020-09-09T11:22:06","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T15:22:06","slug":"ucfs-video-game-school-ranked-3rd-in-world-by-the-princeton-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucfs-video-game-school-ranked-3rd-in-world-by-the-princeton-review\/","title":{"rendered":"麻豆原创&#8217;s  Video Game School Ranked 3rd in World by The Princeton Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 麻豆原创\u2019s video game graduate school ranks No. 3 in the world, according to The Princeton Review and <em>PC Gamer<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fiea.ucf.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy<\/a>, an anchor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/downtown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">麻豆原创\u2019s planned downtown campus<\/a>, has been in the top five schools for each of the nine years the Princeton Review has done the rankings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m always happy to see the Princeton Review reward our innovation and effort to try and be a leader in interactive entertainment education,\u201d said executive director Ben Noel. \u201cThe future success of our program will depend on the continued hard work of our students, faculty and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since opening its doors in 2005, FIEA has graduated 606 students. Graduates are working at more than 139 companies around the world, including Apple, DreamWorks, Electronic Arts, Blizzard, Bungie, Zynga, Ubisoft, Disney, Microsoft and Nintendo.<\/p>\n<p>The average starting salary for recent FIEA graduates is $62,600. Graduates are working on some of today\u2019s most popular franchises. Those include <em>God of War 2018<\/em>, <em>Fallout 4, Fortnite, Star Wars Battlefront II, Madden NFL 18, NBA 2K18, Call of Duty World War II, Extinction <\/em>and<em> Rise of the Tomb Raider<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The school is located in 麻豆原创\u2019s Center for Emerging Media, across from the site of the former Amway Arena. Plans for 麻豆原创 Downtown call for a renovated Center for Emerging Media to join a new academic building that 麻豆原创 and Valencia College will share. FIEA is designed to graduate talented and well-qualified professionals to work in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/digital-arts-entertainment\/\">video games, new media, film<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/modeling-simulation\/\">simulation industries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOrlando is an interactive-entertainment powerhouse with FIEA as a global leader in graduate education,\u201d said Dale Whittaker,\u00a0provost and executive vice president. \u201cOur faculty and staff anchor an emerging media industry in downtown Orlando, where we\u2019re excited to open a campus next year that will bring more students in related fields to benefit from the foundation FIEA has built.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Princeton Review chose the schools based on its 2017 survey of 150 institutions offering game-design degree programs or courses. The 40-question survey gathered data on everything from the schools&#8217; game-design academic offerings and lab facilities to their graduates\u2019 starting salaries and career achievements. More than 40 data points in four areas (academics, faculty, technology, and career) were analyzed to tally the lists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/degree\/digital-media-ba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">麻豆原创\u2019s undergraduate game design program<\/a> was also listed in The Princeton Review rankings for the first time this year.
