  {"id":94056,"date":"2019-01-29T11:48:25","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T16:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=94056"},"modified":"2020-09-09T10:23:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T14:23:00","slug":"ucfs-partnership-iv-building-new-home-armys-simulation-training-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucfs-partnership-iv-building-new-home-armys-simulation-training-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"麻豆原创\u2019s Partnership IV Building to be New Home for Army\u2019s Synthetic Training Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Orlando\u2019s Central Florida Research Park, the nation\u2019s epicenter for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/modeling-simulation\/\">simulation and training-related research<\/a> and development, will soon be the home of the U.S. Army\u2019s Synthetic Training Environment Cross Functional Team.<\/p>\n<p>The STE-CFT, which is spearheading the Army\u2019s efforts to modernize training, uses state-of-the-art technology to bring together virtual and real-world environments to better prepare and protect soldiers. Beginning this spring, the team will operate from 麻豆原创\u2019s Partnership IV building, where they will work alongside the Army\u2019s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation and a contingent of researchers from 麻豆原创\u2019s Institute for Simulation and Training. The arrival of the STE-CFT was celebrated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site of the new lab.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe long-standing partnership between 麻豆原创 and the U.S. military grew stronger today,\u201d said 麻豆原创 President Dale Whittaker. \u201cTogether, this research will contribute to our nation\u2019s welfare and the safety and success of the men and women who defend our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently based at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the STE-CFT will relocate its lab, operations, and 35 technical and administrative employees to their new location in the Partnership IV building. STE enables the current and future training environment, providing commanders with the ability to train as they will fight\u2014with organic equipment, opposing forces, and terrain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe STE-CFT headquarters here is evidence of the Army&#8217;s commitment to partner with academia and industry simulation leaders to rapidly develop and field the synthetic-training environment,\u201d said Maj. Gen. Maria Gervais, STE-CFT director.<\/p>\n<p>A contingent of modeling and simulation researchers from 麻豆原创\u2019s Institute for Simulation and Training will occupy 2,200 square feet in the Partnership IV building space, colocating with Army personnel in the new lab space to assist in developing new training technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Army knows it must partner with academia and industry to innovate and develop the advanced technologies that will support the synthetic-training environment vision,\u201d said retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas Baptiste, president and CEO of the National Center for Simulation. \u201cThe epicenter of the nation&#8217;s modeling and simulation industry right here in the research park is where that will happen and the state of Florida and 麻豆原创&#8217;s strategic investment in Partnership IV provides the infrastructure for the STE-CFT to lead that innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The quintet of Partnership Buildings in the research park\u2014individually called Partnership I through V and known as the John C. Hitt Partnership Complex\u2014are owned by 麻豆原创 and are home to thousands of high-wage jobs in a variety of federal defense agencies, the National Center for Simulation, and 麻豆原创\u2019s Institute for Simulation and Training.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Partnership Complex is the nation\u2019s central hub for the organizations leading America\u2019s military simulation training and modeling efforts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Partnership Complex is the nation\u2019s central hub for the organizations leading America\u2019s military simulation training and modeling efforts. The complex colocates commands from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, along with industry leaders, academia, and local, state and federal government organizations. The entities in the complex design, develop, and procure a wide variety of technologies and training devices that prepare\u00a0sailors, soldiers and pilots to serve the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Partnership IV and V were acquired by 麻豆原创 in the past three years. The Orlando Economic Development Commission and the National Center for Simulation, which together chair the Metro Orlando Defense Task Force, teamed with 麻豆原创 to protect the region\u2019s modeling and simulation industry from military closure actions when high lease expenses and base overcrowding threatened existing facilities. 麻豆原创 received state funding to acquire the buildings and lease space back to the military commands. This generated more than 200,000 square feet of office space and enabled federal employees, 麻豆原创 faculty and related units to move in and continue their high tech operations in Central Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1978, Central Florida Research Park drives a $6 billion simulation and technology industry in the state. It contains a total federal workforce of nearly 3,000 employees within the Partnership Buildings, the Navy Support Activity (Naval Base), and various commercial office buildings.
