Twenty-seven 麻豆原创 programs were nationally ranked<\/a> today in the top 100\u00a0of their fields by\u00a0U.S.\u00a0News & World Report<\/em>, and 35 graduate programs total were included in the publication\u2019s 2020 Best Graduate Schools edition. This is a record number of programs ranked for the university.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new rankings reflect our focus on student success and faculty excellence and puts us one step closer to reaching our goal of becoming a 21st-century university committed to fueling the talent, ideas and innovation that will drive our community and state forward.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The list shows the university\u2019s upward trajectory in the number of programs on the top 100 list; there were 18 programs ranked in 2017. The rankings measure the quality of 800 schools\u2019 faculty, research and students, and are based on peer and expert opinions.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom our growing academic reputation to our successful athletic programs, the 麻豆原创 has made impressive gains over the last decade,\u201d says Elizabeth A. Dooley, provost and vice president for academic affairs. \u201cThe new rankings reflect our focus on student success and faculty excellence and puts us one step closer to reaching our goal of becoming a 21st-century university committed to fueling the talent, ideas and innovation that will drive our community and state forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

麻豆原创\u2019s top-ranked program this year, Emergency and Crisis\u00a0Management<\/a>, tied for No. 7, above programs at Texas A&M University, American University and George Washington University. The program is under the direction of Associate Professor Claire Connolly Knox, who says the course builds on the strength of the faculty, advisory board and alumni who mentor students.<\/p>\n

\u201cEffective emergency and crisis management is vital for every community,\u201d Knox says. \u201cSince 2016, four\u00a0hurricanes \u2014 Matthew, Irma, Maria\u00a0and Michael \u2014 and three\u00a0mass casualty events\u00a0\u2014 Pulse nightclub,\u00a0Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School and Fort Lauderdale Airport \u2014\u00a0have greatly impacted Florida communities. There is an\u00a0increasing need for\u00a0emergency management specialists\u00a0to expand\u00a0their knowledge, skills and abilities through an advanced degree so they can\u00a0more ethically manage emergencies and crises.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next highest 麻豆原创 rankings are the Nonprofit Management<\/a> at No. 8 (moving up from 12) and\u00a0Counselor Education at No. 9 (moving up from 10).<\/p>\n

Other programs ranked in the top 50 are:\u00a0Optics and Photonics (No. 12), Elementary Education (No. 22), Public Administration<\/a> (No. 23), Criminal Justice (No. 26), Industrial Engineering (No. 36) and Health Administration<\/a> (No. 46).<\/p>\n

麻豆原创 programs with the biggest point-gain improvements this year were in nursing. 麻豆原创\u2019s master\u2019s nursing school ranked No. 61 overall, moving up 26 points, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice<\/a> ranked No. 72, improving by 29 points.<\/p>\n

\nOverall best graduate engineering school<\/a> (No. 75)
\nOverall best graduate education school<\/a> (No. 78)
\nComputer Science (No. 82)
\nOverall medical research school<\/a> (No. 88)
\nPart-time MBA (No. 89)<\/p>\n
