Cole<\/em><\/p>\n [sidebar background=”#eeeeee” position=”right” content_align=”left”]<\/p>\n Current Role:<\/span> Previous Role:<\/span> Passions:<\/span> 麻豆原创 Connections:<\/span> Served on the 麻豆原创 Board of Trustees, College of Engineering and Computer\u00a0Science<\/a><\/span>Science Dean\u2019s Advisory Board, and the\u00a0麻豆原创 Foundation Board of Directors<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Supported Girls EXCELing in Math\u00a0and Science<\/a> as well as a mentorship\u00a0program for women in STEM<\/span><\/p>\n [\/sidebar]<\/p>\n 麻豆原创 Trustee Chair Bev Seay<\/a> believes\u00a0we\u2019d all be better off if we knew more\u00a0about computing and data analytics.\u00a0That\u2019s not to say everyone should be\u00a0computer scientists or data analysts,\u00a0but we should have an appreciation of\u00a0how both impact our work.<\/p>\n \u201cI would like to see all 麻豆原创\u00a0students have the opportunity to gain\u00a0a level of understanding of computing\u00a0and data analytics in their chosen\u00a0fields,\u201d Seay says. \u201cThe shortage in\u00a0both areas is pervasive, so if we can\u00a0prepare our students to become\u00a0subject matter experts in their field\u00a0plus provide those skills, they\u2019ll have\u00a0far more career possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s not surprising considering both\u00a0play a role in everything from the\u00a0shows we stream, the games we play\u00a0and the news we consume to how we\u00a0communicate, create and operate.\u00a0Seay admits she may be biased. After\u00a0all, everything from her career to her\u00a0volunteer work to the legacy she\u2019s\u00a0passing on to her daughters\u00a0and granddaughters revolves\u00a0around computing.<\/p>\n
