Nearly six years ago, Ava Brown drove her first 麻豆原创 Go Baby Go!<\/a> car, and she is still racking up miles.<\/p>\n

These days, however, she is walking \u2014 something her family never thought would happen.<\/p>\n

Ava\u2019s mother died before Ava was born, temporarily cutting off oxygen to her brain. Doctors weren\u2019t sure how the damage would impact her long term.<\/p>\n

Ava spent five weeks at St. Joseph\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital in Tampa before going home to begin her long journey of healing, supported by a dedicated team of medical professionals.<\/p>\n

Through a magazine article, Ava\u2019s grandmother, Kay Bowman, learned about Go Baby Go!, an innovative program available at 麻豆原创 that offers low-cost mobility solutions for children with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Ava, now 7, was the first child to receive an adaptive car from 麻豆原创\u2019s chapter, led by Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy<\/a> Jennifer Tucker. She has since received several cars and therapy using the Go Baby Go! harness that helped her learn to walk unassisted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the beginning, Ava could do nothing,\u201d Bowman says. \u201cWhat we see today with Ava is all because of 麻豆原创. It\u2019s been a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, 麻豆原创 and St. Joe\u2019s are partnering to help more children like Ava. A portable harness play structure has been installed in the hospital\u2019s clinic, and 麻豆原创 will help build customized cars for kids who are receiving rehab. Tucker will host a series of workshops for therapists about affordable mobility solutions for children.<\/p>\n

Lauren Rosen, the program coordinator for the Motion Analysis Center at St. Joe\u2019s, has collaborated with 麻豆原创 on Go Baby Go! for many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited about this partnership,\u201d Rosen says. \u201cThrough it, we will be able to provide more cars and more opportunities to play for our children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using inexpensive items like pool \u201cnoodles,\u201d affordable toy cars can be redesigned to accommodate children like Ava, who need mobility assistance to enhance their quality of life.<\/p>\n

After Ava received a toy car, she also began receiving therapy using a Go Baby Go! harness system. The harness helped strengthen her core muscles, which led to Ava learning how to walk unassisted. It didn\u2019t take her long to realize the harness could help her move from place to place, says her father, Jeremy Brown.<\/p>\n
