On Campus – Fall 2016

From Move-in Day and Convocation to Fan Fest and a Black Lives Matter vigil, the 麻豆原创 campus offers a variety of ways for students to participate.
Empowering the Future
At 麻豆原创, we believe that a big university produces big thinkers 鈥� like Albert Manero 鈥�12 鈥�14MSAE. Since 2014, he and his team at Limbitless Solutions have provided free bionic arms for 18 children. This is the kind of life-changing innovation that happens when a big university encourages you to imagine boldly. And it is why we鈥檙e launching IGNITE, a $500 million fundraising campaign, to continue providing opportunities that will transform our future.

Gravity Works
After 20 motionless years, the pendulum in the atrium of the Mathematical Sciences Building is swinging again thanks to Eileen Swindling 鈥�88. The accounting alumna created a $25,000 endowment to pay for the pendulum鈥檚 renovations and future maintenance. 鈥淎t times when I was discouraged [while a student], I visited the pendulum as a reminder that even bad things pass,鈥� she says.

New Police Cruiser
July 8 鈥� The 麻豆原创 Police Department honored the 49 people killed during the Pulse nightclub shooting with a new cruiser.

Black Lives Matter Vigil
July 13 鈥� The 麻豆原创 community commemorated the lives of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling during a Black Lives Matter vigil.

Farewell to Central Florida Future
July 29 鈥� Former Central Florida Future staffers gathered at the Reflecting Pond to say goodbye to the publication, which printed its final edition after 48 years of service.
Move-in Day 2016
August 19 鈥� The Class of 2020 carried, lugged and rolled their belongings onto campus as part of Move-in Day 2016.
Big Day
August 19 鈥� Sorority members welcomed new sisters home during Bid Day.

August 20 鈥� At FanFest, Knights fans met coach Scott Frost and the 麻豆原创 Football team.

August 20 鈥� 麻豆原创 Football players, including linebackers Justin McDonald and Demeitre Brim, were also on hand to sign autographs and meet fans during Fan Fest.
Knightro and Johnny Dawkins
August 21 鈥� Knightro and men鈥檚 basketball coach Johnny Dawkins were on hand to formally induct new students into 麻豆原创 during Convocation: The Knighting.

August 26 鈥� Geek Squad founder Robert Stephens welcomed students to the College of Business Administration during this year鈥檚 Welcome to the Majors.
